Brand-Rex Chosen For New UK Hospital
Over 25,000 outlets will be connected with a Brand-Rex Cat6Plus system and a fibre backbone, providing the cabling infrastructure for what will be one of the largest hospitals and health facilities in the UK.
The Greater Peterborough Health Investment Plan (GPHIP) is a £335 million project to build Peterborough City Hospital, the City Care Centre and the Cavell Centre in Peterborough by 2010. It is a joint venture between the hospitals trust, Peterborough Primary Care Trust and Cambridge and Peterborough Foundation Trust and is led by PFI consortium Progress Health. Construction started in July 2007 and the cabling infrastructure phase is currently being delivered by Brand-Rex Value Added Reseller, Dimension Data.
Due to open in 2010, Peterborough City Hospital is being built on the Edith Cavell site and will include 612 inpatient beds as well as several specialist care units. Following the opening, the existing Edith Cavell Hospital will be demolished and final landscaping and car parking will be completed in 2011.
